Invitrogen Qubit® Fluorometer
The Qubit® 2.0 is a fluorometer capable of measuring low concentrations of several different kinds of analytes, including RNA, DNA and protein. Further information on the Qubit® 2.0 may be found at Invitrogen's website. Training is scheduled on a per user basis. The cost of the training is $73.00 an hour plus the cost of reagents. Training typically takes 30 minutes. After being trained to use the fluorometer, a user will have independent access to the instrument. We use Google Calendar for instrument scheduling. The reagent fee for instrument usage is $1.75 per sample. Two standards are run every time an assay is performed, and must be counted as samples for billing purposes. In other words a minimum of three samples will be run, two standards and a user's sample. Trained users may use their own reagents and consumables, and will incur a $5.00 access charge when using the instrument. Data maybe saved to your flash drive*.
The GEC stocks both the dsDNA HS Assay, and the RNA Assay for use with the Qubit.
