Driving and being dropped off

  1. Being driven to campus and being dropped off is a good idea, because you don't have to park, and the Biotechnology Center is located in such a way that you can be dropped right by the front entrance. However, it's a little tricky.
  2. Follow one of the other sets of directions to get on University Avenue westbound from Park Street. If you are coming from the west, turn Left on Randall Ave. If you are coming from the South, turn Left on Dayton Street (just past the railroad viaduct) and then Right on Randall Ave. In both cases, you turn left off Randall Ave. onto one-way University, taking care to be in the right lane.
  3. The new wing of Genetics/Biotechnology Building, which contains the Biotechnology Center, is at Randall and University. Go past the new wing about 120 feet to the tiny vehicle entrance to Henry Mall. You can turn into this entrance and be dropped off right in front of the Genetics/Biotechnology front stairs at 425 Henry Mall.
    However, note:
To turn right on Henry Mall, you have to cross both the heavily travelled bike lane and the heavily used Bus Stop.
The right turn is quite sharp and the entrance is narrow.
There are usually pedestrians, and often a large number of them, using the University Ave. sidewalk, and not all of them are on the lookout for turning cars.
  4. After dropping you off, your driver can go West on University Ave. by doing turning left in one of two lanes which cross Henry Mall and turning right off of Henry Mall onto Westbound University Ave.
  5. To go East, your driver needs to go to the North end of Henry Mall, turn right on Linden Drive, and then turn Right on Charter Street, crossing University Ave. at the stoplight and turning left on Johnson Street.
