Sorry, the player couldn't load. The player requires Adobe Flash or a browser that can play Apple HLS streams. The Dolphin browser works on Android.
You can try this link: Play this lecture using an external video player. This will only work if you have a player installed that works with RTSP video streams (e.g., VLC Media Player) and your browser is configured to use it.
In general you are more likely to see this message on Linux or Android because media support on those platforms is inconsistent.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants in the Digital Age: A Look at Charles Van Hise's Field Notebooks
The player will try to chose the best quality stream that will work with your network connection. On some platforms there will be an HD menu where you can manually chose the playback quality - if you experience problems try selecting a lower setting. 1080P requires approximately 8 Mbps - most cable modems should handle this. 720P requires 4 Mbps, 540P (DVD quality) requires 1.5 Mbps.
If you still have problems you can try downloading the lecture here (for recorded lectures only, not live streams): 1080P 720P 540P
Linux
On Ubuntu Linux you may need to install the Ubuntu-restricted-extras packages to play the videos on this page. Other Linux distributions may require different software packages or workarounds to play the h.264 videos on this page.
